Hamer had two serial number systems: Four Digit serials and the standard production serials. Four Digit serials started with '0000' (Rick Nielsen's sunburst Standard) and ran to about 0750 between 12/74 and 1985. The production numbers started in 1977 with the introduction of the Sunburst model '7 0000'. A Note on Hamer Serial Numbers. In 1974 Hamer used a four digit number stamped into the wood starting with guitar #0000 and, until the launch of the Sunburst, this system was used on all guitars. Information and Acknowledgments
| While you may not know the name Mike Shishkov, chances are pretty good that you have seen (and heard) his work. Mike was the master craftsman behind some of the most famous and iconic electric guitars ever built. The recent decision to cease production of Hamer Guitars was the heartbreaking end of an era. This event however, presents new opportunities for those who had a hand in building some of the highest quality and innovative American electric guitars ever produced. By launching Shishkov Guitars, Mike has dedicated himself to continuing the legacy of building custom instruments to exacting standards. |

Hamer Xt Series Explorer
GENERAL DESCRIPTION You are looking at a really cool Hamer Blitz bass. This is a quality USA model built in 1984. Hamer built these Blitz basses between 1982 and 1990. The signature feature of this bass is it’s Explorer-style body shape. It has a P and J style pickups, a Hamer bridge, and Hamer tuners. The body is Mahogany, the fretboard is Rosewood, and it has a set neck. It is a full scale 34' bass and has 21 frets. Functionally, everything is working on the bass, and I believe everything is original. While it has a radical look to it, the tone is much more rich old school . . . the bass may be pointy, but the tone is deep and round. I’m guessing the original color was White, but it has aged to a very vintagey mellow-yellow-ish white. There is a lot of lacquer-style checking of the paint on the body and headstock.
